Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Police then found multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for details.
A high-ranking official stated the incident left him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
